After more than two months of coronavirus-induced lockdown, India has entered the first phase, Unlock1.0,of the three phase unlock plan announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. The lockdown is expected to continue in containment zones which will be demarcated by the district authorities, taking into consideration the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Inter-state and intra-state movement of people and goods will be permitted without e-pass which spells good news for manufacturing industry. Businesses need to ensure continuity with new SOPs and guidelines in its continued combat against Covid-19.With Unlock1.0 economic cycle started rolling and expected to pick up momentum.

Government of India has identified 12 sectors where India can become self-reliant which include food processing, electronics, industrial machinery, furniture, leather, auto parts, textiles and ventilators which can provide opportunities apart from new user segments especially agriculture machinery, medical equipments, defence, and other emerging sectors. Businesses need to expand their horizons through partnerships and explore new sectors for growth.

The union government has announced a series of stimulus measures for MSMEs to improve liquidity and meet cash flow requirements. Member companies are urged to explore and make use of the funds for their revival plan judiciously.
